Grazing animals

Many animals live at Maihaugen. During summer and autumn you can see them grazing in different areas around the open-air museum.

Here you can get to know traditional farm animals such as horses, cows, sheep, chickens, pigs and goats.

The sheep stay outdoors all year round. The other animals graze during the summer season – usually until the autumn holidays, weather permitting.

The animals are moved between different pastures throughout the summer. Feel free to ask, or check the information board in the visitor centre, to find out where the animals are on the day of your visit.

Help us make sure the animals are happy and comfortable out in the pasture. Please be considerate around them and do not feed them.
