This year, glass artist Ulla-Mari Brantenberg has decorated Maihaugen's Christmas tree.
Every year since 2008, a Norwegian artist or designer has given Maihaugen's Christmas their own expression.
Ulla-Mari Brantenberg has filled the tree with leaves, icicles and droplets created from glass and gold.
Ulla-Mari Brantenberg (b. 1947) is a pioneer in Norwegian glass art. At the end of the 1970s, she established her own glass workshop, the first of its kind in Norway.
She was first known for her colorful drinking glasses, but gradually she also made sculptural works and decorations.
Several museums in both Norway and abroad have bought her art. At Lillehammer, she has contributed to the decoration of Nordre Ål church and Kulturhuset Banken.
The first artist to design decorations for Maihaugen's Christmas tree was Per Spook in 2008. He decorated it with glass art. Since then the tree has been decorated by different artists and designers every year.
