Every year, since 2008, a Norwegian artist has been invited to decorate the Christmas tree with their own designed decorations.

Sigrud Bronger has filled the tree with more than 200 small Christmas trees made by colored acrylic materials and pine cones. har fylt treet med over 200 små juletrær laget av farget akryl og furukongler. Slightly comic since the spruce tree is now bearing pine cones.

Humor and surprises

Sigurd Bronger (b. 1957) is a leading jewelry artist of our time, both nationally and internationally.

Bronger's jewelry looks nothing like traditional jewelry art. He combines natural materials, everyday materials, and different metals in a surprising, technically advanced, and humoristic way.

From pine cones, his mother's gallstone,  cactus spike, needles from hedgehogs, whale teeth, and ostrich eggs have been used in Bronger's universe of jewelry.  All-natural materials are carried by mechanical metal construction.

Different artists

The first artist to design decorations for Maihaugen's Christmas tree was Per Spook in 2008. He decorated it with glass art. Since then the tree has been decorated by different artists and designers every year.

Maihaugen's Christmas tree can be seen until 10 January 2021.
