23 June
18.00 - 23.00
Midsummer Eve at Maihaugen is celebrated with a bonfire, music and activities for the whole family!
Midsummer is one of the major annual events at Maihaugen. The open-air museum comes to life with concerts, dancing, costumed actors, hosts in historical houses, skilled craftsmen demonstrating traditional handicrafts, and a variety of activities for children.
Every year, Maihaugen collaborates with a municipality in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley. This year, the municipalities of Sør-Fron and Nord-Fron will showcase their local culture on the outdoor stage and in various locations throughout the museum.
We will get a glimpse of Peer Gynt at Gålå with actors Heidi Ruud Ellingsen, Mads Ousdal, and musician Kjetil Bjerkestrand. The evening’s highlight for many is the bonfire lighting at 9 pm. This year, Heidi Ruud Ellingsen will sing, accompanied by music from Kjetil Bjerkestrand.
After the bonfire, Ovrums will play. There will be a chance to dance waltz, polka, and reinlender!
The highlight of the evening is the moment when the bonfire by the lake is set ablaze.
Food and beverages are sold in different places in the open-air-museum, or you can bring a picnic basket and enjoy your food in beautiful surroundings.
