Christmas decorated houses

A unique feature of Maihaugen's Christmas Market is the chance to experience how Christmas was celebrated in the past. The lights are lit in the historic houses that date from the Middle Ages and up until the present day. 

Activities for the whole family

Children can enjoy a variety of fun activities, including gingerbread baking, visiting the barn animals, participating in Christmas workshops, or going on sleigh and pony rides.

Musicians sing and play Christmas carols around the museum.

In the visitor center you can see Maihaugen's Christmas tree, which is decorated by a different artist or designer every year.

We recommend being here at dusk. The atmosphere when the lanterns are lit is truly magical.
