Farm life at Øygarden
Monday–Friday until 28 August
All day
Experience farm life in the 1890s at Øygarden.
The farmwife of Øygarden is at home and is happy to welcome visitors in between her daily tasks. Hear about yarn dyeing, working with flax – and perhaps you’ll even get a taste of traditional vassgraut porridge?
Øygarden takes its name from the period of abandoned farms following the Black Death in 1349. The farm was left deserted and was not resettled until the early 17th century. The people who lived here were skilled craftspeople, and several of them have left their mark on the buildings.
