Early Summer at Maihaugen

20 May –15 June

Daily except Mondays

Maihaugen Open-Air Museum is coming to life for the summer, and there’s already plenty to experience!
Join a guided tour or explore the museum on your own.

On the guided tour in The Residential Area, you will follow the evolution of style and taste through the 20th century. The guided tour in The Rural Area takes you further back in time to everyday life on farms in Gudbrandsdalen during the 1700s and 1800s.

Don’t miss a visit to Garmo Stave Church, where a knowledgeable host is on site every day, happy to show you around. You can also stop by Queen Sonja’s childhood home, a functionalist-style house from 1935 with a unique story. See what the house looked like when the queen lived there and meet the host, who is eager to share more.

More and more animals are now being let out to graze in the open-air museum. Come and see them – some with their adorable newborns.
